I've studied self-help and personal development for 24 years, giving me tools and skills for my best and worst times.
I beat an autoimmune disease, solo backpacked and worked my way across Europe for two years, started a new life at 32 in London, and achieved high success in a male-dominated career.
My 20s and early 30s were filled with adventure, travel, culture, hobbies, and a strong identity. Then my career grew bigger, I got married, and I lost myself to my roles and societal expectations.
2020's UK lockdown was my low. Unable to see family, marriage strained, socially isolated, and burning out at work.
That summer I turned 40, a milestone that massively motivated me to fix my life. So I got totally clear on what REALLY mattered to me, and dove into personal development studies and coaching.
I took full responsibility for my life and happiness.
I priortized selfcare, and investment in my mind, heart, body, and spirit. I journaled daily, to find myself, and create myself. I studied multiple self-help gurus, and did a transformational Tony Robbins seminar (I've since done several more!).
And 7 months later, I was a new woman! Mentally, physically, and emotionally.
I saved my marriage, transformed my health and body, catapulted my career, deepened my friendships, and focused once again on my interests, hobbies, goals, and dreams.
I became my best self, with hard work, that continues every single day. My habits get tested, particularly when stressed, and as a mother (my daughter is 2.5 yo now). But I know those are the times I need to double-down on myself, not the opposite!
Caring for ourselves takes work, but it's the best kind! And I have proven tools and knowledge to get back on my path when I fall off - and I still get coached, of course!

Motherhood and times of stress are when
I double-down on caring for myself
In my mind I did "everything", and my husband didn't appreciate me.
I had a multi-6 figure career, made a beautiful home for us, cooked dinner every night, planned our holidays, and more... I did SO much!
But my husband didn't seem to care. He'd say things like, "I never asked you to do that", or "You're overdoing it", or "RELAX".
He actually offered to do a lot for us, like he did in the early years. But I'd say no, repeatedly. Deep down I thought I could do it better, or I preferred to hire a professional - from the groceries to DIY, I managed it all.
So my once charming, playful, and romantic French husband slowly retreated from me, and our relationship. And the less he did, the MORE I desperately did, which definitely didn't work!
I lost myself trying to be perfect at EVERYTHING - my home, marriage, family, friendships, and my career. Completely ignoring my selfcare, mind, body, heart, and spirit, letting everything that made me ME, go.
I was depleted, stressed out, unhappy, and resentful. I lost my humour, joy, and spark for life. I was no longer the woman he married, though I often said it was him who had changed, not me.
I blamed my husband for so much of my unhappiness (spoiler alert... it was totally me!).
I tried to be the perfect wife,
but I had it all wrong!
On the outside no one (including me!) knew I was acting this badly. I was just trying to be a great wife!
Even my husband didn't totally see it, he just knew he was less and less attracted to me mentally, physically, and emotionally.
When I read this book at my low in 2020, it was a dagger to my heart. I understood my husband's pain... his behaviour was in response to me! How I acted towards him, and because I'd lost the authentic me.
I absolutely didn't want to lose this incredible man! And ALL the potential for an incredible future.
So along with the personal development work I was doing already, I diligently practiced the advice and skills taught in this book, and the impact was CRAZY!!
We fell back in love, MORE than ever before.
Connection, intimacy, conversation, laughter - it all came roaring back. Plus a baby, and new house!
My husband became the affectionate doting man I always wanted (he always was!). He does SO much now to make me happy and my life easier. In fact, he does more for me than I do for him - which is literally the opposite of what we're taught as women?!!
